Nachi Servo Motors

Nachi Robot

(MAY 2013)

NDC's dedicated R & D team have been busy finalizing the latest breakthroughs in the programming and testing of Serial and Smart Encoders on Nachi TS Series Servo Motors

Those familiar within the manufacturing industries, especially the plants that use Nachi Robotic Systems will already know that these motors are common within the sector, and will be pleased to know that NDC have worked hard to ensure that there is now a solution when a failure occurs.

NDC's R & D Engineering Manager outlines the problem: "These motors use battery backed up smart encoders which respond on a dedicated 2.5 MHz RS4785 serial interface when their position is requested by the controller. These encoders provide information to the servo system via an absolute 24 bit which contains information not only about the position of the encoder but also the status of the encoder at any given time.  After extensive Reverse Engineering of the Nachi Systems, Nachi TS series motors the R & D team now has successfully programmed these smart absolute encoders. At NDC we now also have a fully integrated test system to test Nachi Servo Motors.

A significant amount of resources have been applied to this project and allied to our TEST – DIAGNOSE – REPAIR - TEST procedures, we now have the capability to successfully program and test these motors.
